All you need to know about AIIMS
The admission to the fifteen All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is taken through the AIIMS MBBS ENTRANCE EXAM. AIIMS Delhi is responsible for conducting the admission process every year.
AIIMS has 672 seats available for MBBS aspirants. These seats are available in AIIMS: New Delhi, Bhopal, Patna, Rishikesh, Raipur and Bhubaneswar

The entire paper is divided into five sections:
- Section 1 - Physics (60 questions)
- Section 2- Chemistry (60 questions)
- Section 3 - Biology {botany and zoology} (60 questions)
- Section 4 - General knowledge (10 questions)
- Section 5 - Aptitude and logical thinking.(10 questions)

Languages offered for this exam are English and Hindi.
Types of questions asked
- The type of questions range from moderate to difficult level.
- Assertion-reasoning kind of questions are asked in the exam.
- In Physics, more conceptual questions are asked rather than direct formula based.
- More diagram based questions are asked in biology .
Marking scheme
- 1 mark is allotted for one correct answer
- ⅓ to be deducted for a wrong attempt
- 0 marks for the unanswered question.
Solving previous year's papers
For AIIMS, solving previous year's papers are very important as to get an idea how the questions are being asked. If they're direct formula based or they are conceptual. And if they're conceptual is the the candidate able to solve the questions. Solving previous year's papers also gives the candidate a practice for the logical reasoning and general knowledge portion of the exam.

APPLICATION PROCESS OF AIIMS
For basic registration candidates should be ready with the following documents:
Basic registration
- Read all the information carefully before starting to fill the application. In the next stage AIIMS registration form will appear in which you have to fill the following things:
- Nationality
- Personal details
- AIIMS preferences
- Contact details
- Declaration form
- Upload the scanned images: All the images must be scanned according to the specifications and must be uploaded in .JPG format i.e the passport sized photograph, left thumb impression and the signature. If the images aren't uploaded the candidate will not be allowed to move ahead with the application process.
Click on 'register' after verifying the details carefully.
After the registration process, the candidate will receive a candidate ID and password and will be redirected to the login page. The candidate then has to enter the ID and password and login. The details of the candidate will appear on the screen so the candidate needs to check th details and click on 'Proceed'

Things to check before final registration:
- Credit/debit card or net banking details for online payment
- Valid email ID and phone number
- Valid ID proof
- Qualifying academic details
Filling qualification in MBBS AIIMS application form :
- Preference of language desired in AIIMS exam
- Select an option (yes/no) if they appeared AIIMS exam before.
- Qualifying exam name and status of qualification.
Payment of application fee
After completing the registration process the candidates will be directed to a page to pay the application fee. The fee for general/OBC candidates is Rs 1500 and for SC/ST candidates is Rs 1200. The amount can be paid through credit card/debit card or net banking. Candidates should remember to take a printout of the fee receipt.
Choosing an exam city
After the payment is done the candidate is supposed to click on 'proceed' and it will redirect you to the page where you have to choose the city to give the exam. It is adviced to choose the city with utmost care as if once the city is chosen it cannot be changed.
Printout of the registration and confirmation page:
Once all the steps are completed the candidates will be required to click on 'final submit' option. On the registered mobile number the client will receive an SMS containing the status of the application form. It is advised to take a printout of the application form.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Candidate must have completed their class 12 from ISC/CBSE/state board with Physics, chemistry, biology and English as their main subject.
- Minimum marks in the above subjects for
General category and OBC- 60%
SC and ST - 50%
PWD category- 45% aggregate.
- Age limit if of 17 years as of the past year.
- Nationality- Indian, NRI's, OCI's, PIO's and foreign nationals

How to download the admit card:
- Visit the website and click on the link that says 'MBBS admit card'
- Enter the asked credentials like the registration ID and date of birth
- Download the admit card
The same process is for downloading the AIIMS result as well, just where the candidate has to click on 'AIIMS RESULTS' and the page will be directed.
AIIMS PREPARATION TIPS
- For the Assertion-Reason questions, studying NCERT is very important
- For Physics, understanding the concepts are very important as most of the questions are conceptual
- Questions can be based by combining concepts of two chapters.
- Chemistry is combination of chemical equations, numericals and concepts.
- In biology, studying the diagrams and concepts is very important
- Clearing the concepts of 11th is very important too
