BITSAT (short for BITS Admission test) is an online (computer based) entrance examination for admission to integrated first degree programmes of BITS Pilani (Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad campuses). BITSAT is being conducted since 2005 and is one of the most competitive engineering entrance exams in India.

BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE ADMISSION TEST, known as BITSAT is an entrance exam to get admission in undergraduate, integrated courses and master courses in Engineering, pharmacy and science offered by its three institute- BITS Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad. It is a computer based test conducted every year. The entrance exam will be of three hours duration, comprising of 150 multiple choice questions divided into four parts. A unique thing about this exam is an additional set of 12 questions will be offered to the candidate if he/she is able to give response to 150 questions without skipping. BITS Pilani is the official body who is responsible for conducting the exam this year. The application form was released on 4 Jan and was available till June 18.     Eligibility

    Being reputated and offering high placement to students every year, BITS set high parameters in eligibility than other engineering exam regarding age, attempts and some other fields. Hence candidates are suggested to read the eligibility very carefully. Eligibility differs for various courses.

    For admission to all the above programmes except B. Pharm. : Candidates should have obtained minimum 75% in aggregate in the 12th examination with at least 60% marks separately in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English.

    Only Students who are appearing for 12th examination in 2019 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2018 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2019 test. In other words, you are given only two consecutive years to appear in the BITSAT exam after completing your 12th board. The same pattern get followed in JEE Advanced.

    For admission to B. Pharm.: Candidates should have obtained minimum 75% in aggregate in the 12th examination with at least 60% marks separately in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and adequate proficiency in English.

    Only Students who are appearing for 12th examination in 2019 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2018 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2019 test. In other words, you are given only two consecutive years to appear in the BITSAT exam after completing your 12th board. The same pattern get followed in JEE Advanced.

    BITSAT DIRECT ADMISSION

    The candidate who have secured 1st rank/position in their central and state boards in India for the year 2019 will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT-2019 score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above.

    Verbal reasoning

    1. Analogy: Analogy means correspondence. In the questions based on analogy, a particular relationship is given and another similar relationship has to be identified from the alternatives provided.
    2. Classification: means to assort the items of a given group on the basis of certain common quality they possess and then spot the odd option out.
    3. Series Completion Here series of numbers or letters are given and one is asked to either complete the series or find out the wrong part in the series.
    4. Logical Deduction – Reading Passage Here a brief passage is given and based on the passage the candidate is required to identify the correct or incorrect logical conclusions.
    5. Chart Logic Here a chart or a table is given that is partially filled in and asks to complete it in accordance with the information given either in the chart / table or in the question.

    Nonverbal reasoning

    1. Pattern Perception :Here a certain pattern is given and generally a quarter is left blank. The candidate is required to identify the correct quarter from the given four alternatives.
    2. Figure Formation and Analysis: The candidate is required to analyze and form a figure from various given parts.
    3. Paper Cutting :It involves the analysis of a pattern that is formed when a folded piece of paper is cut into a definite design.
    4. Figure Matrix :In this more than one set of figures is given in the form of a matrix, all of them following the same rule. The candidate is required to follow the rule and identify the missing figure.
    5. Rule Detection :Here a particular rule is given and it is required to select from the given sets of figures, a set of figures, which obeys the rule and forms the correct series.

    Steps to fill BITSAT 2019 application form

    Registration : here the candidate is required to get registered with mobile no and email id. The mobile no and email id should be in working as all further communication is done through these. Also the password generated at this moment should be kept confedential as it will be required at every stage even during writing BITSAT paper for login purpose.

    Form filling : here the candidate is expected to enter academic, personal and communication details. Along with these, you are supposed to select 3 exam centres in order of preference.

    BITSAT 2019 Slot Booking

    BITSAT slot booking has started from April 5. Candidate are required to book slots. Also these are on first come first serve basis so if a candidate preference exists he/she should not wait for next day. During slot booking the candidate will have to select date, time and exam centre. After this, the admit card get issued carrying details like exam centre, date, time etc.

    How to download the BITSAT 2019 Hall Ticket

    • Log-in to the portal using application number, gender, DOB, and email id
    • Upon successful log-in, the admit card will be displayed on screen
    • Download and take a printout for the exam day.

    The best salient feature about the exam is that you have no longer to wait for the result as after the test completion marks would be displayed on the screen and the next day the same result with all details would be sent to candidate registered email ID. Based on the marks, further cut off will be released. If you score more or equal to the cut off score you will be eligible for counselling. But to get admission or to get seat, you should score high. The cut off differs for branch wise and among 3 college too.


    BITSAT COUNSELLING

    After qualifying the exam with high colour, to take participate in counselling you are supposed to fill the counselling form.

    • At first, candidates need to give personal details like name, mobile no, email ID etc. Candidates are advised to review all the details submitted as no correction can be made further.
    • Pay the counselling fee through online mode (net banking/credit card/debit card) or offline mode (challan).
    • Submit the 12th exam marks certificate or details.
    • Select your branch as per interest. This will be the most important steps. After this take print out of the form and sent it to below address

    if you are allotted a seat, then pay the fees within time period. Here are the steps to check the seat allotment of BITSAT 2019

    • SAT 2019 application number and password will have to be submitted by the candidates.
    • Click on “Submit”
    • The allotment status of the candidates will be reflected on the screen along with other information.

    After completion of every round, admission and wait list will be published. In the wait list, candidates who does not get seat are laid down, such candidate have high probability of getting the seat in next round than other candidates.

    Preparation tips:

  • Try to attempt all the questions as there are 12 bonus questions 4 questions from each Physics, chem, maths/ biology. But at the same time you should not guess the answer to achieve it
  • Must attempt the all mock papers. It will not only give you idea about the exam but also checks your performance. If you do not do further preparation, more or less your score will revolve around the mock test paper.
  • Eliminate the calculation & silly mistakes or wrong things you are doing in mock test. It can add 15+ marks in your result.
  • Must practise the past year papers. It will reap confidence. Also you would come to know about the weak zone or area. With proper time in hand you can fix it. You get to know about the time management which play a crucial role during exam. You would better handle pressure, time constraint, difficulty level than others in better way. Many times questions get repeated.
  • Start with chemistry. Its questions are mainly theoretical, long calculations are not required. Try to solve this part in 20 mins, then time for mathematics zone part will get increased, you will no longer feel under burden.
  • Must go through NCERT books for chemistry and physics.

    You are only eligible to pharmacy courses.

    I have completed the online application. But, I have not taken a printout. How can I get a printout now?

    You can take it by logging again.

    I have made multiple payments for single application because of connection error. How will I get back my extra amount?

    If you have made multiple payments towards BITSAT application fee for an application, Institute will refund the extra amount during March 2019. You have to provide your bank details to claim this amount during 15th March to 20th March 2019 online through the BITS admission website. An option will be provided then.

    I have made a mistake while entering some data in my application form. How can I edit/correct it?

    The correction window will be made available on the website during 22nd March 2019 to 25th March 2019 and you can edit the required fields during this period.

    My 12th exam results are not expected before 18th June 2019. Should I apply for BITSAT-2019?

    For admissions to I semester 2019-20 starting in August, you should have your result before 18th June 2018. Keeping that in mind, you may appear in BITSAT-2019.

    I passed 12th in 2018. I didn't get 75% aggregate in PCM. Am I eligible if I repeat some of the subjects to get the required 75% marks?

    If you are repeating 12th exam, you should do it for the all the subjects to pass 12th again as mentioned in the BITSAT brochure. If you take improvement exams in PCM/PCB only, you are not eligible.

    The M.Sc. programmes are 4-year integrated programmes after 12th. There is no intermediate B.Sc. degree awarded.

    I have passed 12th in the year 2017 (or earlier). I am now doing my higher studies (B.Sc./B.E./Diploma) in another college. Can I apply for BITSAT-2019?

    You can appear only two times – the year you have passed the 12th board and the next following year.

    Does any other university admit students based on BITSAT-2019 score?
