All you need to know about WBJEE

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations popularly known as WBJEE was conducted on May 26,2019. This is an entrance exam and qualifying the same will open the gate of undergraduate programs in Engineering and Pharmacy in West Bengal for 106 government colleges. Unlike JEE, it is conducted separately in two sitting as Paper 1 (Maths) and Paper 2 (Physics+ Chem). To get seat in Engineering, you need to appear in both while appearing in Paper 2 will offer pharmacy seats.

The responsible authorities has drawn few parameters. Also, these parameters differ for various courses. Participants taking part in both paper and getting ranked will be eligible for admission in BTech/Pharmacy/Architecture courses. These are the eligibility criteria to appear for the exam while to get admission you need to qualify the exam with good rank. Also, there are some additional parameters put by colleges.

B.Tech eligibility criteria

• Candidates must be citizen of India.
• Candidate should be older than 17 years on 31 December,2019. There is no upper age limit for WBJEE but to get enrolled in Marine engineering Degree course the upper age limit is set to 25 years as on 31 Dec,19.
• Candidate should have passed Class 12 with equal to or more than 45% from a recognized board with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science/ Biotechnology/Computer Application as compulsory subjects. for non General category students, the aggregate marks in three subjects taken together should be more than 40%.

B.Arch Eligibility criteria

• Candidates must be citizen of India.
• Candidate should be older than 17 years on 31 December,2019. There is no upper age limit for WBJEE but to get enrolled in Marine engineering Degree course the upper age limit is set to 25 years as on 31 Dec,19.
• Candidate should have passed Class 12 with equal to or more than 45% from a recognized board with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science/ Biotechnology/Computer Application as compulsory subjects. for non General category students, the aggregate marks in three subjects taken together should be more than 40%.
• Candidate should have cleared either National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture (COA) or Paper 2 of JEE Main 2019.

B.Pharma eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must be citizen of India.
• Candidate should be older than 17 years on 31 December,2019. There is no upper age limit for WBJEE but to get enrolled in Marine engineering Degree course the upper age limit is set to 25 years as on 31 Dec,19.
• Candidate should have passed Class 12 with equal to or more than 45% from a recognized board with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science/ Biotechnology/Computer Application as compulsory subjects. for non General category students, the aggregate marks in three subjects taken together should be more than 40%.
• Candidates should have passed English subject of Class 12 with at least 30% marks.

To grab good rank in an exam, you need to exactly know what you are supposed to study and what you must leave or irrelevant to the exams.

Note:

In Category-I: Only one answer option is correct.

In Category-II: Only one answer option is correct.

In Category-III: One or more answer options are correct.

The application form of WBJEE 2019 was released on December 26, 2018. You are required to give your personal details, academic details and others. Candidates should submit the application form on or before January 23. The application correction window was opened from January 24 to 25. Check the steps given below to complete the application process :

Registration: candidates need to have a working mobile no and an email id as all future communication will be done through it. The first step was to register online by giving applicant's name, mother's name, date of birth, father's name date of birth, gender, identification type and number. Before submitting these details please review all the details as these details are not subjected to change and these details must match with certificates you have.

Entering the details: The candidates are asked to give contact details and then you will be asked to select security type question. As you submit the application form, an application no will be generated that appears on the screen and will be sent to registered email ID. You should remember the application number and password to continue further.

Document Uploading: at this stage you are asked to upload domicile, category, PwD certificate, family income and others.

JEE Main 2020 Application Form Dates (January Session)

Application fee and confirmation: After completing the online application process candidates need to pay Rs. 500 towards application fee by using online (credit/ debit card or net banking) or offline mode. Once the form is submitted candidates were advised to take a print out of the confirmation page and keep it safely for future reference.

The assigned authority has released the admit card on May 14, 2019. You need to login on the official website and take a print out. No hard copy will be sent. Please check all the details like roll no, name, exam centre etc. you need to carry admit card at the exam centre in hard copy mode.

WBJEE 2019 Exam Day Guidelines

Candidates must follow the certain exam day guidelines prescribed by the official authorities.

• Candidates were advised to reach the examination centre at least 30 minutes before the commencement of exam.
• Candidates were advised to check the address of the exam centre before hand as no one would be allowed to attempt the exam in any venue other than the one mentioned in the admit card.
• No candidate was allowed to enter the examination hall beyond the scheduled time of commencement of the test under any circumstance.
• The candidates was not allowed to carry any written or printed material, calculator, pen, document, log table, wristwatch, any communication device like mobile number inside the exam hall.
• Candidate must read the instructions given on OMR and on the cover page of question booklet very carefully and darken the appropriate bubbles of the OMR.
• The OMR Number and the question booklet serial number should be the same.
• No candidate was allowed to leave the exam hall till the end of the examination.
• Impersonation and breaking of the rules will hamper the candidature.

WBJEE 2019 Exam Centers

The result was declared on June 20. You need to login with application no and password and download the rank card. The rank card includes candidate’s mark in Paper 1 and Paper 2 separately. At the bottom GMR(general merit rank) is given and category rank also if you have.

Once the cutoff score get released, seat allotment process begins. The cut off score differs for engineering, medical and architecture courses. Your GMR and PMR rank decide the seat and branch.

WBJEEB started the counselling on June 25. As every year, the counselling has 3 round. You need to carry certain documents if you are allotted seats against your preferred choice.

Verifications of documents is done at counselling. Here are steps how you should get registered for counselling:

Eligible candidates by paying RS 500 online with bank charges can take participate in counselling. They need to fill some basic information.

As per the choice and merit you grabbed in the exam, you will be granted the seat. First round seat allotment has been released on July 3 in online mode. Selected candidates need to pay the provisional admission fee online and also report to the centre. Candidates who will not report to centres their allotted seat will be cancelled and they will be taken out from the upcoming online counselling rounds. At each round, the remaining seats and closing rank will be published and the next round would be carried so.

To secure good rank in an exam, you must be friendly with good books. Here are some selected books for this exam which take you at a good position:

• Try to attempt all the questions and do not leave especially in non negative marking zone.
• Do not give good time on a single question especially in maths even if you have a better command on that topic. Solve only that questions you are able to do in the exam.
• Do not hesitate in leaving the questions if unable to solve in exam time even if it belongs from your strong zone.
• Must attempt the all mock papers. It will not only give you idea about the exam but also checks your performance. If you do not do further preparation, more or less your score will revolve around the mock test paper.
• Eliminate the calculation & silly mistakes or wrong things you are doing in mock test. It can add 15+ marks in your result.
• Must practise the past year papers. It will reap confidence. Also you would come to know about the weak zone or area. With proper time in hand you can fix it. You get to know about the time management which play a crucial role during exam. You would better handle pressure, time constraint, difficulty level than others in better way. Many times questions get repeated.
• Start with chemistry in Paper 2. Its questions are mainly theoretical, long calculations are not required. Try to solve this part in 30 mins, then time for physics part will get increased, you will no longer feel under burden.
• Must go through NCERT books for chemistry and physics.

What are the number of seats available in different colleges and branches?

Once the counselling begins, the official authority announce the seat, branches, college details on official website.

Is the application fee refundable if I do not sit for the examination?

No, in any case the fee cannot be refunded.

Is WBJEE a tough exam? Can I crack WBJEE with 1 month preparation?

It is a state level exam and with 2 months in hand you can easily crack it. They should strategically set a schedule and prepare for WBJEE. Also, if students practice previous years question papers and mock test papers as much as possible as their speed and accuracy will improve, and they will be able to score higher marks in the entrance exam.
