About this paper

This is the CBSE Class 10 Science Summative Assessment II question paper, code 31/2 (Series JSR, Set 2), from the 2016 examination. It carries 90 marks over three hours plus 15 minutes of reading time and has 36 compulsory questions with no choice. Section A has 24 theory questions worth one, two, three and five marks, and Section B has nine one-mark multiple-choice questions and three two-mark questions based on practical skills such as tracing light through a glass slab, saponification and observing budding in yeast. The theory covers carbon compounds, the periodic table, reproduction, heredity and evolution, light and the environment, and includes a value-based question about a classmate in the school Eco Club.
