About this paper

This is the ISC Class 12 English Paper I from the 2016 board examination. The time allowed is three hours, with an extra fifteen minutes for reading only, and candidates are told to attempt all four questions. Question 1, worth 30 marks, asks for a composition of about 450–500 words on any one of six subjects: lessons learnt in life, how reading literature has refined the writer, the proverb "every cloud has a silver lining", deception, "we live in deeds and not in years", and a short story. A full written answer is printed under the question. The scan stops in the middle of the answer to part (e), so Questions 2, 3 and 4 are not in these pages.
